Creative Capital – on retreat

I’ve been on an artist retreat for the past three days with an amazing organization called Creative Capital, a nonprofit which funds different types of artists from around the world, and, I have to say, I’ve met the most amazing people and have seen some amazing stuff that’s being produced.

I’m rather honored to have been brought in as a consultant.  I was a bit unsure as to why I’d been invited, but I’m doing consultations with some of the artists right now, and it seems that I’m not the only one who looks at art as a way to educate people about social causes.  There are also people out there who are working on art installations and projects that deal with food, green space, and all things sustainable.

The Buddhists in Bethlehem

I’m not ashamed to admit that when it comes to The Dalai Lama, I’m hooked.  I first saw him in Washington DC in 1998 and had one of those life-changing experiences at the end of the lecture/teaching.  Like one of those moments that you really can’t put into words but that changes your life forever.  So after that day, I started reading and studying anything I could find about Tibetan Buddhism.

More Magazine

Okay, I’m bragging a bit here, but here’s a link to the August 2008 issue of More Magazine - they did an 11-page article on me and Sustainable Table. The cool thing is that More Mag is for women over 40 and it happens to be one of my favorite magazines, so I was so totally honored and tickled to actually be in it!

From Bonnaroo to Boulder

Have you ever had that perfect trip?  The one where everything just seems to fall into place and everything goes perfectly, even with hiccups and all?  Well, that was “From Bonnaroo to Boulder” for me – and it was a work trip to boot!

My program Sustainable Table had a booth at Bonnaroo, the four-day music festival in Manchester, Tennessee – four glorious days in the hot stinking sun (and I hate the sun) – but we met so many amazing people and had such a great time that it was all perfect.  You can read all about it on the Sustainable Table Tour Journal - we (my colleague Dawn and I) journaled our way across half the country.
