For years, Alex Scott could only survive. Now she’s ready to live.
Alex is planning a birthday party. Her boss wants it called The Masquerade of the Immortal Sovereign. He wants Venice Carnevale by way of Cirque du Soleil and Salvador Dalí. He wants twenty potential brides flown in. He wants a gold scepter with a dragon on it, a hovering throne, and a machine that blares applause when he walks into a room.
What JT doesn’t know is that the party is a cover.
Alex is there to steal the plans for the machine that severs people from their spirit guides and take him down from the inside. But standing up to JT means confronting more than a man who throws pens at his assistants. It means breaking the lifelong pattern that kept her small.
As the night closes in, the inner voice that once kept her quiet begins to fight for its own survival. And something else is circling her, a dark force that feeds on fear and shame and takes root in people who have forgotten who they are. It found JT decades ago. Now it has found Alex.

About
